Wondering what travel in Ogunquit looks like this summer?
Here’s a 48 hour guide highlighting what’s open, where you can go and what you can do on a romantic weekend getaway in southern Maine at our Ogunquit inn!
First things first, hop in the car!
Ogunquit is driving distance from anywhere in New England (and if you’re traveling from in-state it’s only 37 minutes from Portland!) Don’t forget to grab some car snacks.
Arriving at The Colonial Inn
Keep an eye out for the beautiful yellow building on Shore Road (did you know we’re the last of the grand hotels of Ogunquit?)
Our team will be ready to welcome you!
Explore your room
Many of our rooms in the Main Inn have beautiful views across the ocean.
Visit Food for Thought
Food for Thought is just a 15 minute walk from the hotel and their outdoor beer garden is a wonderful spot for snacks or a late lunch. We also recommend checking out their brunch menu!
Wander through town
Ogunquit is known for its walkability, once you park your car on arrival you won’t need it for the whole trip!
Don’t forget to grab a cookie in the lobby
We’re pretty well known for our freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! They now come individually wrapped but we made sure they’re still available.
Time for a swim
Our heated pool & hot tub are the perfect spot to spend an afternoon.
Grab a drink from the service bar
Whether you’re looking for beer, wine or spirits to enjoy on the porch, you’ll find them all at the service bar in the lobby.
Walk Marginal Way
Walk along one of New England’s most beloved coastal walks to get to Perkins Cove for dinner.
Visit Barnacle Billy’s
There’s plenty of space for outdoor dining at Barnacle Billy’s – and don’t forget the rum punch!
Watch the sunset over the ocean
Slowly walk back along Marginal Way (it’s just over a mile long) to return to The Colonial Inn after dinner.
Day 2: Grab breakfast in the lobby
While our breakfast room is closed for the time being we do have a continental breakfast offering in the lobby each morning.
Visit Loveshack Juicery
Grab your morning coffee, juice or smoothie at their easy ordering window and take it with you to the beach.
Walk along Ogunquit Beach
Swimming, sunbathing & walking are all allowed at Main Beach once again.
Stay outdoors & walk Marginal Way (again!)
Each corner provides another breathtaking view of the Atlantic coastline.
Wander through Perkins Cove
Many of the shops, cafes and restaurants have re-opened in Perkins Cove (and the public bathrooms are open!)
Visit Jackie’s Too
Their outdoor dining area is covered and provides beautiful oceanfront views as you enjoy your meal.
The afternoon is up to you!
Take a nap, go back to the beach or go for a dip in the pool!
Visit Treehouse Taqueria
A great spot for margaritas, chips & salsa and even lobster tacos.
Visit The Front Porch
Their outdoor dining area is beautiful and is one of our favorite spots to go for a lovely seafood dinner.
Day 3: One last look at the ocean
Check-out isn’t until 11 so there’s plenty of time to stroll Marginal Way again, visit the beach or go for another swim in the pool.
Make plans to return!
Once you visit Ogunquit you’ll understand the magic of this place – the town of Ogunquit has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety of all visitors and we hope you’ll come visit us at this beautiful place by the sea.
